 Monster Straights
« Thread Started on Apr 30, 2009, 10:12pm »

Tyrinia assembled her men. She had read her map thouroughly and read the journal of a captain she had recently killed, there was no doubting it, they were on that route. Tyrinia assembled her men. This stretch of water, so long it would take a whole week to traverse, stood before them, laiden with the wrecks of crews before them. Tyrinia assembled her men. There was no way all of them were going to survive.

"Alright you cutthroats and murderers, listen up! the route we have just taken is the Monster Straights, a stretch of sea so treacherous, even hardened Grand Line pirates, hopeful of reaching the New World, die here. We are hardened Grand Line pirates, but we are something they are not. Gokou pirates! Dark Eternal Pirates! We will take this most dangerous of paths, and conquer it!" Tyrinia told her crew with a voice of certainty, "There are creatures here that rival those in the Calm Belt! They will assault us with no mercy, and there is no escape, for the tides are too powerful. There is no turning back, for we are already within it's grasp! I want men on gaurd 'round the clock, on watch for these brine shrimp! I want snipers and cannoneers on minute readiness! I want water bombs and buckshot at hand at all times! This crew will survive, but the tight watch is to ensure the minimum amount of loss possible! I've never tasted Krakken, but I'm sure it is delicious!" She ended with a lick of her lips.

Siwa could only gulp. It sounded like they where going into certain death and yet their captain could only make a joke about the whole thing. Well, it seemed that the older woman knew what she was doing. Jack stood beside her, growling slightly but his ears were flat against his head showing how uneasy he was as well. She turned her head to see her fellow crew members seeing that some shared her concern while other's seemed to be ready for it, Thanatos seemed to be the only one grinning from ear to ear. The look he had on his face made both trainer and pokemon fearful, knowing right now that Thanatos was not a human since he seemed to share Tyrinia's thrill in this adventure.

Thanatos was happy. He did not have to much to fear while out in these waters and if anything he could grow stronger while fighting the beasts found in here. "Aye!" He yelled, thrusting his arm in the air as he was now pumped enough to take on everything at once. He then turned to some of the crew, giving out orders for the sharpest of eyes to be put out at night and even thinking of staying up for that shift as well. 'We're all going to be pushed to our limits. I just hope a good portion of us makes it through it and that the men are sharp.'

The going was calm for the moment, though Tyrinia had said that monster's would assail the ship with no remorse, the sailing at the moment was the exact opposite of that. It seemed almost peaceful. The more experienced of the crew saw that as a very bad sign; many of them had visited the Calm Belt and the current condition was exactly that. They were on extra alert, waiting for monsters to appear out from below them, and eat them all.

It was several minutes before they were proven right. It was just as they passed under a cloud; the sun faded behind it, and it was as though they passed the boundary into Hell as they did. Hundreds of blue squid-like monsters grappled the ship, and began beating against the wood to try and sink the ship. Larger monsters with long grey necks protruded from the water, and swept down to snatch up their food.

Tyrinia gave the orders to organize her men and keep chaos from setting in, "Snipers, take out those squids, don't let them sink the ship! Thanatos, take out the big ones." At that, the huge mouth of a sea creature swept down to swallow Tyrinia. Without showing any fear whatsoever, Tyrinia thrust her hand out to the side and cast her spell to kill it, "Hell Thundaga!" Bolts of baleful lightning flung forth from her fingers, and struck the monster, turning it to stone instantly. The neck broke from the inertial, and a huge stone head fell into the sea with a loud splash. It was the time for a battle.

Siwa jumped as they were suddenly attacked. Jack jumped in front of her, keeping her save from the monsters as they attacked.

Thanatos just grinned as he changed into a gold dragon, taking off into the sky and sending out a blot of lightening at the monsters that where attacking the ship going for the bigs one first.

"Jack behind you!" Siwa yelled as a large tentacle came out of no where and hit the dog. "Come on we need you!" Throwing a pokeball to bring out her tadpole pokemon, who she had not named yet. "Get Jack out of there!" Watching as the small pokemon used it's tail to hit the tentacle.

The entire fleet was under the same assault. Water missiles came from the water's surface, fired from the mouths of various sea monsters only seen by dead men and women. Tyrinia teleported between her ships, keeping them in line and providing covering fire for them. This battle was just as hectic as the battle where they retrieved Ace from the Marines, however all that firepower was concentrated on them.

Thanatos' lightning breath was overwhelming; none of the sea monsters could withstand it for any length of time. Many of the creatures he attacked were either killed outright or made a hasty retreat away from his mighty breath weapon.

The tentacle that had wrapped around Siwa's Houndour originated from another pokémon, one called Tentacool. It had come aboard this ship riding the head of a long necked creature, and begun its assault on the first thing it could. It's Wrap attack kept Jack at bay, and it was too strong to be broken by her Poliwag's tail alone.

Meanwhile, Belligerent was on the other side of the shio dealing with the massive amount of Tentacool that were hitting the ship. He grew his arms to giant's length and girth, and begun ramming them across to detach all the assailants, and throwing them far off into the current.

"Use Hypnosis!" Siwa ordered her poilwag to use, watching as the small tadpole quickly did as told. "Jack! Use Crunch!" Watching as her dog friend gladly bit into the thing holding him.

Thanatos gave chase, going after them for a short ways before turning around and going after another group. He wanted to make sure that all the monsters would stay out of their way for the rest of their trip. "Come back and I'll make sure you all die!" He roared, after the few that did live from his wrath.

The Tentacool was lulled in to a slumber by the Poliwag to the point where it was not even bothered by Jack's crushing jaws. It's fluid body enabled it to absorb a good amount of the impact, though the damage was done. Despite being asleep, however, the Tentacool did not release its grasp around Jack, and it persisted to squeeze the dog pokémon.

While Thanatos was shooting down his threats, the monsters below were obviously unaware. Many of them were still assaulting the ship mercilessly, and more of them were on their way to deal with Thanatos. Out from the depths, many huge blue fish shot upward from the ocean's surface, like missiles they flew toward Thanatos. Their goal was to tackle the dragon into the water, where it would be vulnerable to their massive counterattack.

"Jack! Come on! Get out of there!" Jack just growled, getting mad with being stuck in the other pokemon's grip. He went to gnawing on the other pokemon, using Crunch over and over again. The Poliwag did not stay still either, instead a large mud ball coming from it's mouth and hitting the Tentacool.

Thanatos watched as many large fish came after him, clearly trying to take him down. With a growl, he used his tail to bat them away, sending a bolt of lightening at them to make sure they quickly learned not to mess with him. He flapped his wings to gain some extra hight, not wishing to be taken by surprise by one of the fish.

Unlike the previous monsters he was dealing with, these blue fish were completely unfazed by Thanatos' lightning breath, and continued toward Thanatos in a constant hail. He was able to knock away a few of them with his tail, but their sheer numbers overtook him, and fish the size of his upper body were ramming into his ribs with great force, pushing him down.

After another bite from Jack's powerful jaws, the Tentacool finally stopped moving entirely, and it's tentacles dropped from around him. It did not have the strength to take too much damage from that particular attack. There was no rest though, for as soon as she had finished with that Tentacool, several more monsters poured on deck from the sea. These were fish as large as a man's torso, and appeared to be wrapped in extremely rough skin in solid reds, blues, and yellows. These were Carvanha, the most sinister of fish.

Well, it seemed these fish did not care to play by the rules of logic as the golden flying lizard grunted from the force hitting him in the chest. His mind raced as he watched the water's surface slowly rose up to great him. Even though he was trying to ignore his other half, he caught some of what Death was muttering on about. Something about not liking the out comes and the color black.

What the hell was his insane half talking about!?

And then it hit him. If these creatures were immune to an element they should be dead from, then maybe it was time to go with a color, of dragon, that their goddess rather enjoyed. Maybe his blood thirsty self was not as dumb as it seemed. With a smirk, and renewed vigor, the golden dragon turned pitch black a deadly look in its eyes as Thanatos started to spew out acid confident that the new attack would do more damage then his last attacks.

"Quick! Get ready for another battle!" Siwa ordered her team as she knew there would be little time to celebrate their victory, for this was just a minor one in the battle that was taking place around them. Even though she did not have a lot of schooling, she knew that in a fight fire always succumbed to water and that Jack was heavily out matched. If he got hurt due to her... She shook her head, clearing those thoughts away quickly as she watched Jack and the Poliwag quickly went to attack the new threat on the ship.

Siwa turned, watching as strange fish started to attack people on the deck. It did not seem possible that such creatures could move like they were on the ship and yet here they got around just fine and even managed to attack people. She shook her head again, this was not the time to think of logic if anything she would have to try and capture one or two of them to see just what the heck they were. "Jack! Your going to have to get close to them and bite them! Poliwag! Try blasting off the fish that are trying to jump onto the ship!"

The houndour gave a short growl, charging into the first Carvanha, trying to gnaw the strange fish into submission. The blue tadpole like pokemon went to standing in front of its trainer, sending out a strong blast of water to anything non human trying to get onto the deck.

Thanatos managed to avoid colliding with the sea by using his acid breath weapon against the Wishcash's. The large blue fish splashed back into the water and took a few seconds to recover, though they were not as hurt as it seemed initially. It was not long before the Wishcash's leapt out to tackle Thanatos, others were shooting heavy blasts of water at him, though their aim was not true.

Meanwhile, Jack found that biting the Carvanhas was not the best of ideas. Small spines filled his mouth and dug into this very vulnerable part of his body, dealing a small amount of damage back to him. Siwa would feel a vibration on her belt, it was the Pokedex that Sara had given her. If she looked at it, she would see two messages, "Jack is hurt by the wild Carvanha's Rough Skin." And, "Dark type pokemon are resistant to Dark type attacks." She would also see a list of Jack's four attacks and what types they were, also that the wild Carvanha was below half of its health meter.

The Poliwag's water blasts were enough to divert the path of many of the leaping fish and squid like monsters, giving the other pirates ample time to accustomate to fighting the extraodinary creatures. Lead by Belligerent, whose knuckles were bleeding from contact with the Carvanhas, the pirates were bolstered to fight off the first wave. Jack and Siwa was left with the one weakened Carvanha.

'I loved how your planned work so well.' He taunted his other half, thought not finding as much satisfaction as he thought he would from it. As much as he wanted to enjoy the growing anger from his counterpart, their life was in danger a little to much for him to care on his quick taunt. He racked his mind quickly, most of their forms were made for land or for water that would not make them sink like a stone; right now it seemed they were at a major disadvantage.

Thanatos went used his wings, giving him self a powerful bust to throw him self higher up in the air to give him a little time to think. An idea hit him, but he knew it would take a lot of his energy and even then the plan might not work. His black scales turned to blue, he took a deep breath and shot a beam of ice at the fish that jumped out of the water or showed their face. He knew it was a long shot, but he was trying to freeze them long enough for the boat to get away or for them to lose interest.

A sudden vibration made Siwa jump some, not knowing what could cause such a thing. She looked around and saw that no one else seemed to feel it so she checked her self over, seeing the pokedex was the cause of her alarm. The girl took the device off her belt and looked at it, reading the two messages and thinking quickly. "Jack!" Watching as the dog like pokemon gladly got away from the fish. She noticed that he seemed to be in some pain and quickly pushed aside her one thought. "Flame Wheel!" She figured it would not do much damage, but it would be enough to keep her friend from getting hurt. The tadpole like pokemon was still left with the job of trying to shoot fish back into the water.

Thanatos gained new height in ample time to watch as the Wishcash fall back into the water, far short of touching him. They splashed back into the waves with enough force to cause water to splash up onto the ship's deck. They were getting ready to launch an new assualt on the dragon, but his ice breath forced them to relent. They had taken too much damage from the ice breath to continue, and they swam away before they would be killed. Thanatos would not have long to relish in this small victory, because the other warships were being assailed by large blue monsters. Several Tentacruels were holding onto the warship trailing the flagship, and were attempting to rend it apart. The noise of gunfire could be heard from this threatened ship, and the dull sound of bullets bounding off of tough skin followed as the small guns were made useless.

Back on the flagship, Jack tackled the Carvanha hard with a veritable inferno sprouting from his fur. It was truly a sight to behold, and some of the fighting pirates stopped to watch this display in awe. Despite the impressive show of unearthly power, Jack's Flame Wheel did no better than his previous attack. As he collided with the spiney body of the fish pokemon, Jack would feel sharp pains where he had tackled the fish. The same message of warning showed up on Siwa's Pokedex, "Jack is hurt by the wild Carvanha's Rough Skin." And, "Water type pokemon are resistant to Fire type attacks." Despite the message's nature was purely helpful, it did well to show the difficult spot Siwa had found herself in. Trapped on this ship lead by an insane wizard, surrounded by great and powerful monsters. Death seemed to be a possibility.

Siwa's Poliwag continued to knock would-be assailants back into the water, thinning their numbers and thus supporting the other pirates. Some of which had taken up spot providing support to the little blue tadpole pokemon, knowing that this was a strategy worth following. The assault was unmittigated, and would definitely continue until dusk. Tyrinia, unlike many of her crew, found this desperate battle to be amusing. She had not had such a large and frenzied battle since the fight to rescue Ace, but she was unable to enjoy that madness as she had a clear goal to accomplish. She relished in this opportunity to make up for her lost entertainment. She could be heard singing an eerie song of torture and death, the stuff that reminded the crew of evil witches. Not one of the more normal pirates would ever forget that scene of insanity, if they were lucky enough to survive this day. Or maybe unlucky, depending on your point of view.

A easy win but even so Thanatos knew that this did not win the war. With the sound of other ships fighting to keep the monsters away he turned to the ship that seemed to be the most distress and landed on the deck to help them out. Quite frankly he was growing mad with what was going on, and a mad Than never did well for anyone. He pulled out his Kakugane and quickly turned the strange device in his hands as it turned into a scythe. "Time to end this." With a toss, he sent his weapon screaming around the ship cutting through any monster limbs that dared to try and sink the ship.

Siwa's pocket vibrated again, and once again she pulled out the device to see it giver he information she already knew or had figured to be true. "Damn it! Don't sit there and tell me something I don't know!" Yelling at the device as she had half the mind of chucking it over the side of the ship in her anger but just roughly placed it back in her pocket. It seemed that no matter what she told Jack, he would have a hard time getting the fish off the deck.

She shook her head, if the fish was hell bent on staying on the ship then she could make sure it stayed in a place to stay out of the way. Her hand went to her pocket and produced a small white and red ball. When she hit the button in the middle, it grew in size to that of a baseball. She threw it at the fish like pokemon, hopping to catch it so that her friend could get a much needed break. Her mind was to focused on the battle at hand to hear what was going on around her, she could hear noises just could not make them out. To her right now, all that mattered was helping her friend since her other pokemon seemed fine with blasting jumping fish back into the water.
